“European stocks fall 12% on the week as coronavirus grips markets”. On 9 July, Oxfam launched a report warning that “12,000 individuals per day might die from COVID-19 linked starvation” by 2021, estimating a further one hundred twenty five million people are vulnerable to starvation because of the pandemic. In specific the report highlighted “emerging epicentres” of starvation, alongside famine-stricken areas, together with areas in Brazil, India, Yemen and the Sahel. In the start of March 2020, some main cities in the US announced that bars and eating places could be closed to sit-down diners and restricted to takeout orders and supply. Some workers had been fired, and more employees lacked sick leave within the sector compared to comparable sectors.
